An architectural marvel housing masterpieces by Rubens, its soaring spire dominating the city skyline.
Diamond city lived up to its name for us, the architecture around the Grand Market is something else at dusk. Rubens House was a lovely surprise even for our teenager who normally complains about museums.
The Grand Market Place and the zoo more than delivered, but that first evening was rough, our airport transfer took far longer than we were told and the kids were melting down by check-in. It picked up fast once we settled, still a poor start to an otherwise lovely week.
Honestly did not expect Belgium to be this family friendly. Weather in July was pleasant enough for the outdoor squares and the zoo, and the chocolate workshops we booked kept the children busy for hours. My mother in law, not the easiest to please, said it was one of her better trips. We would go back just for the food alone.
Did not expect Belgium to be this family-friendly. July was warm enough for the open squares and the zoo, and the chocolate workshop we booked kept both children busy for a good couple of hours. My mother in law, not easy to please, called it one of her better trips.
That first evening after landing was rough, our airport transfer to Antwerp took much longer than expected and the kids were cranky by check in time. Things improved quickly once we settled in, the Grand Market Place area especially.
Clean, easy city with kids, food was the real star of the week.
May to September, when the weather is pleasant for exploring and outdoor activities.
