Split's Diocletian Palace at sunset was pure romance. The old town does get packed with cruise ship crowds by late afternoon though.
Sailing into secluded coves near the Elafiti Islands and jumping straight into that impossibly clear water with my partner is a memory I'll keep for years. The boat crew found spots that never felt crowded even in peak June. We packed a light lunch and just floated for an hour. This one day alone justified the whole trip for us.
Loved the coast, but we barely heard a word about the Split-to-Zagreb delay until we chased the local contact ourselves.
