Everything about this Croatia trip was lovely except the transfer from Split to Zagreb, which ate up almost an entire day.
Diocletian's Palace area was so crowded by midday that we could barely take a photo without twenty strangers in frame. Plitvice was stunning though, easily the highlight of the whole honeymoon. Hotel rooms in Dubrovnik felt a bit dated for a premium package.
For our anniversary we wanted somewhere between history and beach, and Croatia did not disappoint even one bit. Split's palace lit up at night is magic, and the Adriatic water at Elafiti islands is the clearest we have ever swum in.

Celebrating our fifth anniversary in Croatia turned out better than we could have imagined. Walking the Dubrovnik City Walls in the evening light with the sea glittering below was a moment we will remember forever. Split's old town built right into Diocletian's Palace blew our minds, cafes and shops tucked into centuries old walls. The drive up to Plitvice was long but those turquoise lakes and waterfalls made every minute worth it.
