The journey

Journey overland across the Himalayas from Delhi to Srinagar. Travel first to Manali before climbing through the high passes of Himachal Pradesh into Ladakh. The route crosses Atal Tunnel, Baralacha La, Tanglang La and Khardung La, bringing you to the high-altitude landscapes of Nubra Valley, Turtuk on the Indo-Pak border and Pangong Lake.

From Pangong, trace the road back via Chang La and continue along the highway to Srinagar. Along the way, visit Diskit Monastery, Lamayuru, the Sangam confluence and the Kargil War Memorial, traversing passes including Fotu La, Namika La and Zojila before settling into houseboats on Dal Lake.
