Honestly a gamble taking the whole family to Georgia, since almost nobody we know had been, but Tbilisi and Batumi together made for a wonderfully balanced six nights. Narikala Fortress and Jvari Monastery gave the older generation their history fix while the kids mostly just enjoyed running around the open spaces. Batumi Boulevard in the evening, with the Dancing Fountains lighting up as the sun went down, was hands down the children's favourite moment. Would happily recommend this route to any family looking for something less typical.
Tbilisi's sights were genuinely impressive though we got steered into a lengthy souvenir shop stop that felt unnecessary with tired kids in tow. Batumi's Dancing Fountains that evening thankfully turned the mood back around.
Batumi's Black Sea air was such a refreshing change of pace for the kids after days of mountain sightseeing.
Good family package with a nice split between mountain culture and coastal relaxation. Our grandparents found some of the fortress walking a bit much in the heat, worth pacing that part slower.
Three generations travelling together can be tricky to plan for but this Georgia route paced things well for all of us. The kids' favourite part was easily the Batumi Boulevard evening with the fountains and sea breeze.
The route itself is well thought out, coast and culture in one trip, but a couple of days ran hot and the forced shopping stop soured an afternoon. The Dancing Fountains saved it, and the kids still rate Batumi highly.
