Brandenburg Gate at sunset with the whole family standing together is a photo we now have framed at home. Simple moment but it meant a lot.
Cologne Cathedral left our kids with mouths wide open. The scale of that building is genuinely hard to describe until you are standing right under it. We climbed part of the tower and the view over the Rhine made the tired legs worth it. Definitely one of the most awe-inspiring stops on the whole itinerary.
Neuschwanstein Castle looked exactly like the fairy tale pictures we showed our kids.
Chocolate Museum in Cologne turned into the surprise highlight for our younger one.
The castles and the Chocolate Museum kept the kids delighted, but ten nights across four cities is a lot with little ones, and a musty Frankfurt hotel plus a long delayed train tested our patience. The Cologne Cathedral climb salvaged the mood.
English Garden in Munich was a nice breather day for the kids to just run around freely. We did spot the river surfers everyone talks about, which was a fun surprise.
