Brandenburg Gate at sunset, kids running around the plaza, us just soaking it in, that memory alone was worth the whole booking. Add the Romantic Road detour with its toy-town villages and this became our best Germany trip as a family.

Cologne Cathedral left both kids speechless, we must have stood there for twenty minutes just looking up. Frankfurt however was more of a transit stop for us and the hotel room felt cramped for four people.
Our kids still talk about Neuschwanstein Castle rising out of the mist, it genuinely looked like something out of a storybook. The rail connections between Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt and Cologne were smooth and the older one loved counting stations on the map. Eight nights felt just right, not rushed at all.
