Tsomgo Lake and Tiger Hill were both magical, genuinely romantic stops for a couple. Kolkata leg felt a bit rushed compared to the unhurried mountain days before it, we would have liked one extra day there. Still, the toy train ride through Darjeeling more than made up for the rushed ending.
Red pandas at the Himalayan Zoological Park were an unexpected highlight for us, so playful and rare to see up close. Darjeeling's toy train ride afterward felt like stepping back in time together.
Kolkata's College Street was a surprisingly lovely finish after all the Himalayan views.
My partner is not a morning person, but even she admitted Tiger Hill gave her the best sunrise of her life. The drive up in the dark packed with jeeps was a bit chaotic, yet the moment those peaks lit gold all of that was forgotten.
Misty Gangtok mornings against Kolkata's chaotic, colourful streets by the end made for a lovely contrast. Mother House was quietly moving, a nice pause between the mountains and the city.
