LEGOLAND Japan was fun but got very crowded by midday during our visit, queues for the popular rides ran long. Meijo Park afterward was a welcome, quieter contrast. Late June humidity made the wait outside for rides quite uncomfortable with young kids. Would suggest visiting LEGOLAND on a weekday morning if this itinerary is flexible on dates.
Toyota Museum turned into an unexpectedly great learning experience for our curious ten year old, loom demonstrations and all. LEGOLAND the next day was just pure fun with no educational pretence needed.
Exhibits on the early automobiles and looms at Toyota's museum were genuinely fascinating, more engaging than we expected for kids under ten. Shinkansen travel between stops felt like an attraction in its own right.
This under-the-radar Japan pick surprised all of us, less crowded than Tokyo but just as rewarding.
Nagoya Castle grounds made for a peaceful family afternoon, an easy recommendation for a slower day.
