Eagles circling overhead during the Kilim mangroves boat ride left the kids speechless for once, monkeys in the trees too.
Loved the destinations chosen for this family route, genuinely well thought out for different ages, but our Penang hotel had a slow, disorganised check-in process that had us standing in the lobby with cranky kids for close to an hour after a long travel day. Kilim mangroves and Georgetown mostly made up for it, and the Langkawi leg was excellent, so still a trip we'd recommend with that one caveat.
Funicular views from Penang Hill were spectacular, though the queue at peak afternoon with tired kids tested everyone's patience a bit.
Fourteen nights, luxury tier throughout, and we never once felt we were compromising on comfort with two young kids in tow. Ending in Tanjung Rhu gave everyone, my parents especially, the calm, unhurried few days a long trip needs.
Our children turned Georgetown's street art alleys into a scavenger hunt, find the caricature, find the mural, kept them entertained for hours without a single complaint about walking too much.
Loved the route and the thought behind it, but our Penang hotel had a slow, disorganised check-in that left us in the lobby with cranky kids for close to an hour after a long travel day. The rest more than recovered.
