Meghalaya Monsoon Tour from Guwahati

Assemble at the pick-up point at Guwahati Airport by 11:00 for a briefing with your trip captain. Drive 100 kilometres towards Shillong in the East Khasi Hills, taking around four hours. On the way, stop by the shores of Umiam Lake to admire the mist-wrapped waters and green hillsides. Continue the drive into Shillong and check into your hotel after 13:00. In the evening, head out to explore Police Bazaar, browse local shops, and spend time cafe hopping. Return to your hotel in Shillong for the night.

Eat breakfast at your hotel, complete check-out, and start the 50-kilometre drive to Cherrapunji, also known as Sohra. Your first halt is Elephant Falls, flowing heavily during the rainy months. Next, drive to Laitlum Canyon to look out over fog-filled valleys and sheer canyon edges. Stop at the Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint to watch cloud banks drift through the gorge. Before reaching town, explore the Garden of Caves with its mossy rock formations, caves, and forested waterfalls. Check into your hotel in Cherrapunji for an overnight stay.

Have breakfast at the hotel before setting out on a full day of waterfall exploration. Visit Nohkalikai Falls to watch water plunge 340 metres off cliff edges into the pool below. Move on to Seven Sisters Falls, where seven distinct streams tumble side by side along the plateau rim. Step inside Mawsmai Cave to examine its natural limestone formations and lit passageways. If trail conditions are dry and safe enough, make an optional trek down the steep steps to multi-tiered Wei Sawdong Falls. Return to your hotel in Cherrapunji for the night.

Have an early breakfast and check out from your hotel. Set off on the 90-kilometre drive towards Mawlynnong, recognized as Asia's cleanest village. Stroll through the village lanes and take a short walk along the forest path to visit the Living Root Bridge. If landslides or road conditions block access to Mawlynnong, you will visit Kongthong Village instead to learn about its whistling tune tradition. Afterwards, begin the drive back to Shillong, check into your hotel upon arrival, and rest for the evening. Overnight stay in Shillong.

Enjoy breakfast, then head out on a 150-kilometre round-trip excursion into the Jaintia Hills around Jowai. Stop first at Tyrshi Falls, taking in the multi-tiered cascade surrounded by lush paddy and forest. Continue to Krang Suri Falls, known for its vibrant blue-green pool and wide stone ledge. If weather conditions remain safe and the trail is not overly slippery, visit Phe Phe Falls as well. Drive back to Shillong by late afternoon. In the evening, explore local hillside cafes and retail markets before returning to your hotel for the night.

Have breakfast at your hotel and check out by 11:00. Board your vehicle for the 100-kilometre return drive from Shillong to Guwahati, which takes around four hours. Arrive back at Guwahati by around 17:00, where the group will disperse at the drop-off point for your onward flights or train journeys home.
