Hopping between Manila, El Nido, Boracay and Cebu meant several short flights, and by the third one our younger child was completely worn out. We ended up napping through most of the Boracay arrival evening just to recover. Each destination was worth it individually though, especially the kayaking in El Nido's Big Lagoon which none of us wanted to end. Just wish there was a rest day built in somewhere in the middle of the trip.
We walked the cobbled streets of Intramuros on the first morning and the kids loved clambering the old fort walls. From there it was one beach after another, but the calm of Puka Shell Beach and the fish at Crystal Cove kept the whole family in a good mood.
Every island earned its place, but hopping Manila to El Nido to Boracay to Cebu meant a string of short flights, and by the third our youngest was wiped out and slept through the Boracay arrival evening. One rest day in the middle would have made it perfect.
Four destinations in six nights sounded ambitious for a family trip with young kids but this itinerary managed the pacing really well. Intramuros in Manila gave our kids a fun history lesson before the beach days began, walking through old fort walls and cobbled streets. El Nido's Big Lagoon kayaking became an instant favourite, our son insisted on paddling the whole thing himself. Boracay's Puka Shell Beach was quieter than we expected and perfect for the kids to hunt for shells for hours. Snorkeling at Crystal Cove Island in Cebu was the grand finale, colourful fish everywhere and both kids refusing to get out of the water.
