Rajasthan: Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer

Meet your trip captain at 9:00 AM at your hotel in Jaipur for a trip briefing session. After freshening up, start your sightseeing with Amer Fort, set atop a hill overlooking Maota Lake. Have breakfast early in the morning and begin the 390-kilometre drive to Udaipur, the City of Lakes. Upon arriving, check in to your hotel. If time permits in the evening, visit scenic Lake Pichola, an ancient artificial lake lined with ghats and palaces, set against the backdrop of the City Palace. Return to the hotel for dinner and rest for the night.

Set out after breakfast for a full day exploring Udaipur. Start at the grand City Palace, overlooking Lake Pichola, which showcases a fusion of Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles. Next, head uphill to Sajjangarh Fort, also known as the Monsoon Palace, for sweeping views of Udaipur and its surrounding lakes. If you did not visit Lake Pichola yesterday, visit it today. Enjoy dinner and stay overnight at your hotel in Udaipur.

Check out after breakfast and drive 250 kilometres toward Jodhpur, the Blue City. On the way, stop at Haldighati to tour the Maharana Pratap Museum, covering the historic Battle of Haldighati. Continue through the Aravallis to Kumbhalgarh Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its historic ramparts, the second longest continuous wall in the world. Arrive in Jodhpur by evening for dinner and your overnight stay.

After breakfast, discover the landmarks of Jodhpur. Tour Mehrangarh Fort, perched high above the city, to explore its courtyards and collection of royal artefacts. Visit Jaswant Thada, an intricate white marble cenotaph honouring Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, followed by Umaid Bhawan Palace, still functioning partly as a royal residence. In the evening, explore the Clock Tower market on a local food tour, tasting mirchi vada, mawa kachori, samosas, and lassi. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Eat an early breakfast, check out, and drive 280 kilometres to Jaisalmer in the Thar Desert. Check in to your Swiss campsite near the dunes. Head into Sam Sand Dunes for a desert jeep safari and camel rides, followed by a cultural programme featuring Rajasthani folk dance and music groups. Spend the night desert camping under open skies. Enjoy a traditional Rajasthani dinner before resting in your camp.

Have breakfast and explore the sights around Jaisalmer. Begin at Kuldhara, the abandoned 13th-century ghost village. Next, visit the living Jaisalmer Fort, where residents still live within historic sandstone walls. Tour the ornately carved merchant mansions of Patwon Ki Haveli, then stop at Gadisar Lake, a historic reservoir surrounded by small temples. Check-out is at 11:00 AM. Later in the evening, board your vehicle for the overnight journey back to Jaipur via Jodhpur.

Arrive back in Jaipur early in the morning, where your trip concludes at the reporting point. Depart for your home destination with memories of Rajasthan's palaces, hill forts, and desert dunes.
