This viewpoint offers one of the most recognizable city panoramas, with scenic views of the water, historic architecture, and Riddarholmen Church's tall, pointed spire.
Waterway boat tour was the highlight, better than we expected for such a short add on.
A quick anniversary getaway was all we planned for, not expecting much from just two nights, and Stockholm completely won us over. Royal Palace in the morning light, then losing ourselves in Gamla Stan's alleys by afternoon, felt like a much longer trip compressed into the perfect weekend. Staying centrally near Scandic Klara meant we could walk almost everywhere without needing transport. We are already planning a longer Sweden trip because of this one.
Two nights and Gamla Stan's cobbled lanes still gave us more romance than trips twice as long.
Gamla Stan's cobblestone lanes are made for aimless wandering with someone you love.
Stockholm is beautiful but genuinely one of the more expensive cities we have visited, a simple dinner near Gamla Stan cost far more than we budgeted for a two night standard tier trip. Views from the boat tour did make up for some of that shock though.
We only had a weekend and Stockholm made it count. Royal Palace in the soft morning light, Gamla Stan's alleys all afternoon, and a waterway boat tour to close the last evening, it felt like a far longer trip folded neatly into two nights.
