Eight nights felt like exactly the right amount of time to properly explore Stockholm as a family of four. Gamla Stan's colourful old alleys were a joy to just wander through with the kids, no fixed plan needed. The Vasa ship left all of us speechless, it's hard to believe something that old and that intact survived at all. Djurgården gave us a full day of options, my son wanted Skansen for the animals while my daughter wanted the ABBA Museum, and we somehow managed both. Ended with a picnic in the Royal National City Park that felt like a proper local Sunday.
Djurgården turned out to be the perfect family day out, ABBA Museum for the parents' nostalgia and Skansen's animals for the kids meant everybody left happy. Gamla Stan's narrow lanes the next morning were just as charming.
