Gulhane Park in the afternoon gave our kids room to run while we soaked in centuries of history around us, right next to Topkapi's walls. Istanbul balances the ancient and the everyday better than any city we've taken our children to. Four nights felt like enough to see the essentials without exhausting anyone.
Bosphorus cruise was a highlight though the boat got quite crowded during peak hour, hard to find a good spot on deck for photos. Views of both continents still made it worthwhile.
Grand Bazaar shopkeepers were relentless with the kids in tow, felt pressured into a rug shop we had zero interest in and it took real effort to politely walk away. Rest of the bazaar experience was fun, just go in mentally prepared for the sales pitches. Wouldn't let this one thing put anyone off the visit though.
