Went alone straight after a stressful work stretch and this trip reset me completely. Salzburg's old streets are made for aimless solo wandering, and Vienna's grandeur at Hofburg is a different kind of overwhelming. Four nights felt like enough without feeling rushed.
Nice enough itinerary but September evenings were already getting chilly and I was underdressed for the Vienna leg. Hofburg Palace was crowded with tour groups by mid morning making it hard to enjoy quietly. The solo pacing was good otherwise, just wish the weather guidance had been clearer.
