Mirabell Gardens and the Hafelekar viewpoint were genuinely gorgeous and easily the best parts of this route. Vienna leg however was hampered by a hotel room that faced a noisy street, we barely slept the first night despite asking for a quieter room at check in. Crystal Worlds was fun but felt overpriced for the actual time spent inside.
Palaces, mountains, crystal art, this trip had it all for us.
Schönbrunn Palace alone justified the Vienna stop for us, incredible scale and detail throughout. Innsbruck cable car queue for Hafelekar was longer than expected on our visit day, nearly an hour wait at the base station.
The cities themselves were faultless, but the Hafelekar cable car queue at the base station ran close to an hour on our visit and we lost the better part of a morning to it. Get there right at opening if this stop matters to you.
Three cities in five nights sounds rushed on paper but this itinerary paced it out really well for us. Vienna gave us grandeur and classical music energy, Salzburg gave us gentle gardens and old world charm, and Innsbruck gave us mountains and modern art at Swarovski in equal measure. Every transfer between cities was smooth and scenic in its own right. Genuinely one of the best structured couple trips we have taken.
Swarovski Crystal Worlds was far more captivating than we expected going in, the lighting and installations felt almost dreamlike. Vienna's palace grounds earlier in the trip were the perfect grand opening to this route.
