Loved the pacing overall, this is proper premium family planning and not just a checklist tour. Marseille felt slightly rushed compared to the other stops, wish we had one more day there for the calanques.
Trip itself has all the right postcard moments but the train transfer day from Nice to Paris with connections ate up almost the whole day and the kids were cranky by evening. Once we settled into each city things were smooth, just wish the transfer logistics were tighter.
Marvellous overall, but Marseille felt short next to the other stops. We had one day and never made it out to the calanques the boys had been reading about, which stung. One more night on the coast and it is perfect.

Thirteen nights sounds long on paper but for a family of four it worked out perfectly, no rushing anywhere. The first evening in Paris when the Eiffel Tower lit up in front of the kids, both of them just went silent for a second, then started jumping, worth every bit of the journey alone. Nice's flower market in the morning was such a nice contrast to Paris chaos, my daughter still talks about the lavender soaps she picked up. Marseille's basilica view over the sea was stunning even though we were all a bit templed out by then. Lyon's old town traboules turned into an actual treasure hunt for the boys, easily the surprise hit of the trip.
Thirteen nights and not one wasted. The moment the Eiffel Tower burst into lights our younger one went completely silent, then started jumping, and my wife teared up. That single evening justified the whole journey for us.
