Sulphur baths at Abanotubani were an experience I did not expect to love this much.
Travelling solo here meant I could linger at the monastery for as long as I wanted without anyone rushing me along. The midday heat during the fortress climb was tougher than expected though, wish I had started earlier in the day. Carried enough water but still felt drained by the top. View made up for it once I caught my breath.
Five nights solo and Tbilisi filled every one. Jvari Monastery above the river confluence had me sitting for the best part of an hour just staring, and the sulphur baths that same evening melted away days of walking.
Went into this trip a bit nervous about travelling solo for the first time. Came out the other side already planning my next one.
Jvari Monastery overlooking the river confluence was worth the trip alone. Sat there for almost an hour just taking in the view.
Tbilisi is wonderfully easy to explore alone. Felt safe walking back late most evenings after dinner without a second thought.
