Munich to Frankfurt to Cologne over eight nights gave our family of four a really satisfying mix of fairy tale castles and big city energy. The Glockenspiel show at Marienplatz was such a fun, unexpected little ritual to catch with the kids each time we passed by. Neuschwanstein Castle looked exactly like something out of a storybook, my daughter kept saying it was better than any castle in the movies. The Romantic Road town we stopped at felt like stepping straight into the past, cobblestones and all. Cologne Cathedral's sheer scale had all of us craning our necks upward, and the Chocolate Museum was the perfect sweet reward at the end for the kids' patience through all the history.
