The Acropolis leg was excellent, but a rough ferry and then a grey afternoon on Mykonos meant the beach half didn't quite land as we'd hoped. The kids got antsy stuck indoors when the rain came in.
This combination balanced culture and beach time better than any family holiday we've done before, the Acropolis in the morning, Mykonos sand in the afternoon two days later.
Kids loved the Parthenon and even more so the Mykonian beaches where they could just play in the water for hours. Would recommend for families mixing history with relaxation.
Our son ran laps around the Panathenaic Stadium pretending to be an Olympian, that alone made the Athens leg worth it. Little Venice at sunset in Mykonos was equally magical for the adults.
Great family trip overall, though the ferry crossing to Mykonos was choppier than we expected and both kids felt queasy for a bit. Once there, the beach time more than made up for it.
The Parthenon lit up gold in the evening light and even the kids fell silent.
