Pool days at the suite were exactly the slow, easy family time we needed after a busy year, kids barely wanted to leave the water. Getting a good vantage point for the Oia sunset with children in tow takes some early planning though.
Premium tier definitely shows in the quality of the stay, caldera facing rooms are worth every bit extra for a family trip. Restaurants near Oia get very crowded around sunset time so we started booking ahead after the first evening.
Our kids still ask when we are going back to swim in those warm volcanic springs in Santorini.
A whole week let the kids barely leave the suite pool, which was exactly the calm we came for.
Views and setting are everything the photos promise but the walk from our suite down to the town centre involves a lot of steps which was tough with young kids and a stroller. We managed but a golf cart or better transport option would have helped a lot.
Two adults and two kids made up our group, and Santorini in peak summer turned out to be a wonderful choice despite our worries about the heat. The volcanic hot springs were a hit with both children, they called it the warm sea and wanted to go back the next day. Evenings by the pool at the suite were unhurried and calm, exactly what a family holiday should feel like. Watching the Oia sunset as a family on our last evening was a proper highlight, even our younger one stopped fidgeting long enough to watch the colours change.
