October timing gave us pleasant evenings throughout, would not want to do this itinerary in peak summer at all.
The Rajasthan royalty theme really does run through the whole route and we enjoyed it, but that long road day from Jodhpur to Udaipur after a full morning at the fort left us both wiped out. We arrived too tired to enjoy our first evening by the lake.
We gave Jaipur's City Palace a full half day and still felt we rushed it, the mirrored royal chambers are unreal. We slipped by Hawa Mahal early the next morning before the crowds built up, exactly as advised.
