Pahalgam drive through the apple orchards along the Lidder River was postcard perfect from start to finish. We stopped every few minutes just to take photos of the valley opening up around us. The mountain air got noticeably cooler as we climbed which felt lovely after the Srinagar heat. Definitely one of the best drives either of us has done.
The lakes and valleys were genuinely beautiful over the five nights, but Sonamarg only got a quick passing stop and we both wished for a proper day there. It felt rushed at the one place we most wanted to linger.
This Srinagar Pahalgam route gave us the honeymoon we always dreamed of. The houseboat stay and lake views were genuinely unforgettable.
Shikara ride on Dal Lake at sunset was the most romantic hour of our trip.
The pony operators at Pahalgam were pushy about extra charges and we bargained hard for a fair rate, which took the shine off a lovely meadow. The scenery itself was worth staying for once we sorted the price.
