Leh, Nubra, Turtuk and Pangong Road Trip

Arrive at Leh Airport, where fixed transfers depart at 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM to take you to your hotel. Standard check-in time is 11:00 PM. Spend the rest of the day resting, drinking plenty of water, and keeping physical activity to a minimum to adapt to the high altitude. In the evening, attend a trip briefing session led by your trip lead. Dinner is served at the hotel, where you will stay overnight.

After breakfast and an introductory session, start your local sightseeing drive. Head along the Leh-Srinagar highway to Sangam, the confluence where the Zanskar River joins the Indus. Continue to Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, built in 1517, and test the phenomenon of Magnetic Hill at 14,000 feet. Visit the Indian Army Hall of Fame war memorial and stop at the white-domed Shanti Stupa. In the evening, explore local markets and cafes for shopping. Return to your hotel in Leh for dinner and your overnight stay.

Have breakfast and begin your 130 km journey north toward Nubra Valley. The road winds up to Khardung La at an elevation of 18,380 feet, delivering broad views across the mountain ranges. Descend into Nubra Valley and reach the Hunder Sand Dunes, where you can opt for an ATV ride or a ride on a double-humped Bactrian camel at your own expense. Evening tea or coffee is provided. Later, check in to your hotel, have dinner, and spend the night in Nubra.

Set out on a 170 km round trip following the Shyok River toward Turtuk, an outpost village close to the border that joined India in 1971. Take a walking tour along the village paths to experience Balti culture and view the local apricot orchards. You can relax by the Shyok River and visit the Balti Museum, paying the entry fee locally, to see traditional costumes and regional artefacts. Drive back to Nubra Valley by evening for dinner and another overnight stay at the hotel.

Depart after breakfast on a 180 km drive toward Pangong Lake. Along the way, visit Diskit Monastery, the oldest and largest in the valley, famous for its 106-foot statue of Buddha overlooking the valley. Continue your journey along the mountain roads until reaching Pangong Lake, known for its changing blue waters and movie appearances. Check in to your lakeside cottages. Stargaze in the evening if clear weather permits. Enjoy a warm dinner and stay overnight by the lake.

Have an early breakfast alongside Pangong Lake before starting the 150 km drive back to Leh. Your route ascends through Chang La pass at 17,800 feet. If time allows during the return leg, stop at Shey Palace to view its 12-metre gold-gilded Buddha statue and visit Thiksey Monastery, the largest monastery in central Ladakh. Arrive in Leh and check in to your hotel for your final night. Dinner is served at the hotel.

Have breakfast at the hotel and complete check-out by the standard time of 8:00 AM. Board the scheduled group transfer leaving at 9:00 AM to Leh Airport, where your journey ends.
