Celebrated our second anniversary in Bern and could not have picked better, the old town at night is unbelievably romantic with those covered arcades and little fountains everywhere. We did a full day trip up to Kleine Scheidegg and standing there with the Eiger and Monch right in front of us, my wife actually got a bit emotional. Lake Thun boat ride next day was slower paced and just what we needed after all that walking. Would tell any couple to add Bern to their Europe list without a second thought.
Lake Thun cruise was the highlight for us, so calm and the castles along the shore are gorgeous for pictures.
Honestly the Jungfrau region trip ate up almost half a day with train changes and by the time we reached Kleine Scheidegg the clouds had rolled in so we barely saw Eiger properly. Food near the viewpoint was shockingly priced for what it was. Bern city itself we loved, old town walks were romantic, so overall still a decent trip just plan the mountain day earlier.
Bern gave us just enough in three nights, we spent our first evening simply wandering the arcaded streets holding hands with no fixed plan, best decision we made all trip. Next day was reserved for the Alps and Kleine Scheidegg did not disappoint at all, the scale of those peaks makes you feel so small in a good way. Wrapped up with the bear park and some chocolate shopping before heading back.
The sheer scale of the Eiger and Monch up close makes you feel tiny in the best possible way.
The bears at the Bear Park were such a cute surprise, my wife wanted to stay there all afternoon.
