This was our first big international trip with the grandparents along. Switzerland handled a three generation group better than we expected, Interlaken especially.
Overall a good family package but the Kleine Scheidegg viewpoint was quite crowded with tour groups when we went. Montreux also felt a bit rushed for the little ones with just one day there.
Sampling our way through the Maison Cailler chocolate factory tour is basically made for families. Our two boys were in heaven at the tasting counter.
Kleine Scheidegg with the kids was slower going than the couple version would be. The views of Eiger and Jungfrau made every step worth it though. We took frequent breaks and the kids never really complained. Definitely doable with children as young as six.
Loved the mountains, but one hotel breakfast between Lucerne and Interlaken was pretty forgettable for the price.
The Golden Round Trip up Mount Pilatus, that impossibly steep cogwheel railway especially, had our ten-year-old firing off a hundred questions a minute. Genuinely thrilling for all of us, grandparents included.
