Budget was tight but we managed to make this work and do not regret a single franc spent. Montreux's chocolate factory visit and the Cliff Walk at Titlis were our two favourite stops.
Jungfraujoch was freezing but we did not care, standing at the Top of Europe with a hot chocolate in hand felt surreal. The Aletsch Glacier view from up there is something photos never capture properly.
Our anniversary trip turned out mostly wonderful but the hotel we got in Interlaken felt tired and a bit dated compared to the rest of the stays. Everything else, the mountains, the trains, the food, was genuinely excellent, so this is a minor complaint in an otherwise strong itinerary.
Zermatt village itself, car free and quiet, was the perfect romantic finale.
The train up to Zermatt was a long haul with several changes, but the Matterhorn at the end forgave it.
One morning in Zermatt the Matterhorn stayed hidden behind cloud, a small letdown after the whole trip built toward it.
