Five Lakes Hike sounded lovely on paper but one section had a fair bit of mud from recent rain, made the walk less romantic and more careful footing for a while. Gornergrat views made up for it once the weather cleared.
A gorgeous week and the Matterhorn views were spectacular, but we really wished we had built in one more day to slow down further. Six nights felt full rather than leisurely with everything we wanted to fit in.
Schwarzsee was such a peaceful stop, just us and the Matterhorn's north face towering above the lake. Five Lakes Hike the next day gave even better reflections than we expected.
