Took my in-laws and both kids on this Thailand trip and honestly Phi Phi Islands snorkelling was the highlight for everyone, even my seventy year old father in law was floating around with a life jacket grinning like a child. Bangkok's Chinatown in the evening was chaos in the best way, so much food my kids wouldn't stop pointing at stalls. The White Temple in Chiang Mai is unlike anything I have seen, pure white and so detailed. Eight nights covering four places sounds hectic on paper but the pacing was actually quite comfortable.
We are a joint family of six including grandparents and this itinerary balanced everyone's energy levels well, beach days for the young ones and temple visits at a slower pace for the elders. Phi Phi boat ride was a little choppy and my mother felt seasick but recovered once we were snorkelling. Bangkok's street food scene near Chinatown was overwhelming in the best way. Chiang Mai's cooler climate at the end was a nice contrast to the island heat.
