Overall a solid solo itinerary but there was a shopping stop built into one of the transfer days that felt completely unnecessary and ate almost two hours, pure commission tour stuff. Islands and temples were all lovely otherwise, just wish that one stop was skipped.
This was my first proper solo international trip and Thailand made it easy, people are friendly and the route from Pattaya through Krabi and Phuket down to Bangkok and up to Chiang Mai covers so much ground without feeling frantic. White Temple near Chiang Mai looks even stranger in person than in photos, in the best way. Grand Palace was busy but manageable if you go early. Coming back solo I'd genuinely recommend this exact route to anyone nervous about travelling alone.
As someone travelling alone I appreciated that the itinerary wasn't packed with group activities I'd have to awkwardly join. Krabi to Phuket transfer took longer than expected but the island stops made up for it.
I loved the free time built into the route, enough to wander Krabi town alone one evening with a coffee.
Bangkok Chinatown at night alone was one of those travel moments you remember for years, food stalls everywhere and nobody rushing you. Phuket felt more touristy than Krabi honestly but both had their charm.
Solo travellers get treated well in Thailand generally and this itinerary respects that, enough free time to wander on your own between the planned bits. Doi Inthanon early morning was properly cold which nobody warns you about, carry a jacket.
