Kaleici's old streets at night are made for couples, we wandered for hours without any plan and found the tiniest cafe for dinner.
Antalya to Istanbul in four nights was pure magic for our anniversary.
We are not big trekkers but the walk through Kaleici with all its Ottoman-era houses converted into boutique shops was one of the highlights, unexpected given we went mainly for the waterfalls and the mosque. Istanbul's traffic did eat into our sightseeing time a bit, so plan buffer time between the airport and the old city. Overall a lovely, well-paced itinerary for a short romantic getaway.
The Bosphorus cruise we'd looked forward to felt rushed, barely time to take in either shore before we turned back. And the ride from the airport to Sultanahmet crawled through traffic for over an hour. Antalya's relaxed pace was honestly the better half for us.
We aren't shoppers but got happily lost in the Grand Bazaar for an hour, walking out with spices we didn't really need.
