Middle East by Train: What’s Actually Possible?
Unlike Europe, train travel in the Middle East is limited and fragmented. There is no unified regional rail network, and cross-border passenger trains are rare.
Most Middle Eastern rail systems operate within individual countries and primarily serve domestic routes. Travelers expecting a Europe-style train experience across the region will be disappointed.
However, trains can still be useful for specific routes in countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, and Turkey (partially Middle East).
Understanding what is and is not possible is critical before planning.
