Bringing our two kids, aged 8 and 11, on this France trip turned out to be our best family holiday yet. The first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower lit up at dusk had both children glued to the window, pure magic. Nice's Cours Saleya flower market let the kids pick out fresh strawberries every morning before the beach. Marseille's basilica climb was tough with little legs but the view over the Mediterranean silenced all complaints instantly.
Both sets of grandparents joined us on this first big international trip and the pace suited everyone well. Lyon's old town traboules and the bouchon dinner were unexpected favourites for the whole family.
Our children still talk about the secret traboules in Lyon, felt like something out of a spy movie for them. Marseille was a bit hot and tiring to walk around with a stroller.
