Uffizi Galleries were a bit much for our younger one, honestly too many rooms of paintings for a six year old. Our teenager, on the other hand, loved every single minute of it.

Florence to Rome to Sorrento in one trip gave every member of our family something to love. The older kids were fully absorbed by the history in Florence and Rome, while the youngest just wanted the beach and the balcony views in Sorrento. Seven nights meant we never felt like we were racing the clock between cities. Genuinely one of the better planned family trips we have done in years.

Balcony view over the Bay of Naples on arrival in Sorrento was such a nice touch for the whole family. A fresh limoncello for the adults while the kids ran around the room exploring.

Travelling with my parents in their seventies, I worried three cities in a week would wear them out, but it never did. The Colosseum kept the kids spellbound and Sorrento let everyone slow right down at the end.

Climbing Mount Vesuvius as a family was the trip's biggest surprise for all of us.

The drive from Rome down to Sorrento took nearly five hours with the traffic, and by hour three the kids had gone from restless to full meltdown. Sorrento itself was gorgeous once we arrived and the balcony saved the evening, but that transfer really tested us.
