Switzerland with my husband for our honeymoon and this route could not have been better chosen. Bern's Old Town charmed us immediately, especially wandering past the Zytglogge clock tower and watching the bears at Bear Park like a couple of kids. Lucerne's boat cruise on the lake was postcard perfect, mountains reflecting in completely still water. The Peak Walk at Glacier 3000 genuinely took my breath away, that suspension bridge with nothing but Alps in every direction. Chillon Castle on Lake Geneva was the romantic finale we didn't know we needed.
Lake Thun cruise at sunset was our favourite evening of the entire honeymoon, the pre-Alps just glowing pink and orange behind us. Bern's old town the next day added a lovely slow, romantic pace before the more adventurous stops.
Glacier 3000 was a thrill without ever feeling unsafe, a real highlight for the two of us.
The Peak Walk was the day I'd looked forward to most, and low cloud rolled in just as we reached the top, so the endless-Alps view was more endless fog for us. It lifted briefly, so bring some patience.
